Grand Electric Cooperative, Inc. is accepting applications for a 1000-hour line worker. This is a seasonal position of 40+ hours a week. Job Description The Stanton County Public Power District (SCPPD) is a public power district located in northeast Nebraska and is currently accepting applications for the position of Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman. Duties will range from overhead to underground line work, including both construction and maintenance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in performance of work, as assigned or directed, in all phases of distribution line construction, retirement, operation and maintenance of distribution facilities to assure reliable
electric service to all members.
Promotes good member and public relations within department. Renders prompt, efficient, courteous and reliable service in a safe and orderly manner.
Assists in preparation all written documentation as directed and keeps immediate supervisor adequately informed of activities and progress. Coordinates activities with other personnel of the Cooperative.
Reviews work with immediate supervisor to insure compliance with specifications, work practice and safety standards; takes corrective action as needed.
Reports to immediate supervisor equipment or tools in need of repair or replacement.
Analyzes activities to determine areas of improvement. Develops recommendations to immediate supervisor for department improvements.
Assists in maintenance and safety tests on Cooperative vehicles, materials, supplies and equipment. Utilizes safe working practices and reports to immediate supervisor immediately all accidents involving personnel, assigned equipment, and/or materials and supplies; and any close calls, hazards and/or safety violations. Operates vehicles, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner and maintains personal work tools in acceptable condition. Completes assigned work in a safe and productive manner.
Complies with all federal, state and local laws dealing with safe working practices, hazard communication, electrical code, environmental concerns, etc. Complies with RUS, National Electric Safety Code, OSHA and other rules and specifications.
Maintains Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and notifies immediate supervisor if CDL has been suspended, revoked or canceled, or if driver has been disqualified.
